CourseHire (“the Platform”, “we”, “us”) is an online marketplace connecting learners with tutors, universities, employers, government bodies, and other organisations (“Providers”) offering courses and job listings. The Platform is operated by CourseHire, to be incorporated as Coursehire Limited (pending CRO approval), a business based in Ireland. You can contact us at info@coursehire.com. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account.
You can join as a Learner/Job Seeker, Individual Tutor, University, Employer, Government Organisation, or other Organisation. You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date. Each person or entity may hold one account per role. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. A name is required on every account and is shown on your profile; organisations should use their real, registered name.
Confirming your email. When you sign up with an email address and password, we send a one-time link and a 6-digit code to that address, and the account can't be used until you confirm it with either one. Links and codes expire after 30 minutes, and you can ask for a new one. This is how we make sure an email address belongs to the person using it. If someone signs up with an address but never confirms it, the genuine owner of that address may sign up again and take it over, and we may remove accounts that are never confirmed. Accounts that sign in with Google are treated as confirmed because Google has already confirmed the address.
Contact emails. Universities, Employers, Government Organisations, and other Organisations must give a contact email for their profile, and any other user may add one. A contact email is only shown on a profile after its owner has confirmed they can read mail at that address in the same way (link or code), and the confirmation is cleared whenever the address is changed. Phone numbers you add are not shown to other users at this time.
Verified organisations. After a University, Employer, Government Organisation, or other Organisation has confirmed its contact email, an administrator may manually check that the address matches the one listed on the organisation's own website and, if it does, grant a verified badge. The badge only means that check was done at that time. It is not an endorsement or accreditation, and it is not a guarantee about the organisation or its courses, jobs, or conduct. The badge is removed automatically if the organisation's name, contact email, or website is changed, and we may remove it at any time. Individual Tutors and Learners are not eligible for the badge.
Profiles, following and search. The profile of a Tutor, University, Employer, Government Organisation, or other Organisation is public and can be found through the Platform's search. Learner profiles are private by default, and a learner chooses what employers reviewing their job applications can see. Any signed-in user can follow another public profile, and follower and following lists are visible on public profiles. We may hide an account's profile from search and direct links (for example while we look into a complaint, or for a demonstration account) without closing the account.
Mobile app. The CourseHire Android app is a shortcut that opens the CourseHire website in your phone's browser. Everything you do through it is covered by these Terms in the same way as using the website.
Providers create and own their course content — lectures, live sessions, exams, and related materials. By publishing a course, a Provider grants the Platform a licence to host, stream, and display that content to learners. Providers are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and quality of what they publish. We may remove or restrict a course that violates these Terms or applicable law. Each course is shown with a cover image that the Platform generates automatically from its category and title; Providers don't upload cover images.
Course order. On the courses page, sponsored courses come first and are labelled. The rest are ordered by learner ratings, highest first, then by newest. A course with only a few ratings is not ranked above one with many good ratings just because its first ratings were high. Only learners who have completed enough of a course can rate it, and we may remove a rating that breaks the rules (for example a fake, paid, or coordinated one), but never for being low.
Invite-only courses and company training. A Provider can make a course invite-only and list the email addresses of the people who may take it, for example its own staff. Such a course is not listed publicly. A person gets access once they have a confirmed account with a listed address. We may email each listed address one invitation, with a link to the course and a note that they can ignore it; we limit how many invitations a Provider can cause to be sent each day, and how often the same person is emailed. The Provider can see the name, email address, lesson progress, exam result and certificate status of each person who takes the course, and nobody else can. The Provider is responsible for having a lawful reason to invite the people it lists, for telling them what it can see, and for removing people who should no longer have access. Removing someone ends their access, unless they have already finished the course or paid for it; a certificate they earned stays valid. Do not list anyone who hasn't agreed to be contacted, and do not use invitations to send unsolicited messages: we may limit or remove the feature for a Provider who does.
Lecture videos. A Provider can upload lecture videos, which we store and stream only to learners enrolled in that course (and to the Provider). On courses that use a watch-through lock, a learner must watch a lecture through before the next one or the exam unlocks. Learners must not download, copy, record, or share lecture videos or other course materials outside the Platform except as the Provider allows.
Some courses are restricted to learners specifically authorised by the Provider (for example, a company's internal training course). Access to a restricted course is at the Provider's discretion.
Course ratings. A learner who is enrolled in a course can rate it from 1 to 5 overall, and can also say how up to date it is with today's workplace and hiring market, how much it helps (or helped) them in the hiring process, and how much it helps (or will help) them reach their goals at work. Each learner can give one rating per course and can change or remove it at any time. To keep ratings honest, a learner can rate a course once they have started it: after completing at least a quarter (25%) of a pre-recorded course, or once at least a quarter of a live course's sessions have taken place since they enrolled. A Provider cannot rate their own course. Everyone, including visitors who are not logged in, can see a course's average ratings and how many learners gave them. We never show who gave which rating. Ratings must be your honest view of the course. We may remove ratings that are fake, coordinated, or given in return for payment or other benefit. Ratings exist to help learners choose and to encourage Providers to keep their courses current, so a Provider must not pressure learners to rate or offer rewards for ratings. We remove a rating only if it breaks these rules, never because it is low, and we keep a record of each removal and the reason.
Free courses have nothing to refund. For paid courses, you can request a refund by contacting info@coursehire.com within 14 days of enrolling, provided you haven't completed a substantial portion of the course (more than 20% of its lectures, or attended a live session). Refunds are reviewed and issued manually; approving a refund revokes your access to the course and, if one was issued, its certificate. Missing a scheduled live session isn't itself grounds for a refund — contact the Provider about rescheduling or catching up via any recording they choose to share.
Enrollments aren't transferable to another person. Course-revenue credits described elsewhere in these Terms are calculated on amounts actually paid, net of any refund. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you, including any statutory right to cancel a distance purchase or to a remedy for content that is not as described.
Before publishing a course or adding a lecture, every uploader must affirmatively confirm — via a checkbox at the point of upload — that they either own all rights to the content they are uploading, or hold a valid licence or permission to publish it on the Platform. This confirmation is timestamped and retained against the content.
Responsibility and liability for uploaded content sits with the uploader, not the Platform. By confirming your rights, you agree to indemnify and hold the Platform harmless against any claim, loss, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you uploaded that infringes a third party's intellectual property or other rights. See the next section for how to report content you believe infringes your rights.
If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, send a notice to info@coursehire.com containing:
On receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the material and notify the uploader, who may submit a counter-notice if they believe the material was removed in error. Repeated valid notices against the same account feed into the repeat-infringer policy below.
The Platform operates a strikes system for repeated violations of these Terms, including repeated intellectual property infringement. A strike is issued, with a recorded reason, when a violation is confirmed. An account that accumulates three strikes is automatically suspended: the account can no longer publish courses, lectures, or job listings, and cannot sign in until the suspension is lifted. This policy exists both to keep the Platform trustworthy and because maintaining and acting on a repeat-infringer policy is what allows online platforms to rely on safe-harbor protections against liability for user-uploaded content (for example, under the EU Digital Services Act and, in the US, the DMCA).
If you believe a strike was issued in error, contact info@coursehire.com to appeal. If we find a strike was wrongly issued, it is marked as overturned and no longer counts toward suspension — but it stays on record, along with the evidence and reasoning for overturning it. Overturning one strike does not remove any other, separately valid, strikes on the account.
We only send marketing or promotional emails to users who have separately and explicitly opted in — this is never bundled into agreeing to these Terms or creating an account. Every marketing email includes a working one-click unsubscribe link. You can withdraw consent at any time by using that link; you'll still receive essential account and transactional emails (such as receipts, security notices, or email confirmation codes) regardless of your marketing preference.
Payments are not open yet. At the moment nothing on the Platform can be bought: paid courses, paid job postings and renewals, sponsorship, and trial placements all launch soon, and no money is being taken. Free courses, certificates, applying for jobs, and the free promotional job posts described below work now. The prices, fees, and rules in this section and the sections that follow describe how paid features will work once they open, and may change before launch. We will update these Terms and the date at the top when payments open.
Paid transactions are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Course prices are set by Providers. We retain a service fee of 30% of the price of each paid course sale (before tax); the remainder is paid to the Provider via Stripe Connect. The fee is also shown to Providers when they connect a payout account, and we will give notice before changing the percentage for future sales.
Providers are responsible for their own tax obligations on income earned through the Platform.
Sponsorship. A Provider can pay to sponsor one of their own courses (€25) or job listings (€40) for 14 days. Sponsored items are listed ahead of items that aren't sponsored and carry a “Sponsored” label. Sponsorship starts once payment is confirmed by Stripe, and buying again while a sponsorship is still running adds another 14 days to its end. Sponsorship buys placement only: it doesn't guarantee enrolments, applications, or hires, and a sponsored item stays subject to these Terms and may be removed if it breaks them. No discounts or free trials are offered on sponsorship. Sponsorship fees are non-refundable once a sponsorship has started, except where the law requires otherwise.
Taxes. Prices are shown before VAT, GST, or any other sales tax. Where a tax applies, we work it out at checkout from your location (and, for a business buying with a tax number, from that number) and add it to the price, and the checkout page shows it before you pay. We collect that tax and pay it to the tax authority. A Provider's share of a course sale is calculated on the price before tax, so tax never reduces or adds to what a Provider is paid.
Address and tax number. Accounts that sell courses or post jobs (tutors, universities, employers, and other organisations) must give a postal address, and may add a tax number (such as a VAT, GST, or TIN number). Learners and job seekers are not asked for one. We use these to keep tax records, issue invoices, and meet legal reporting duties, including reporting what Providers earn to tax authorities where the law requires (for example under the EU's DAC7 rules). Your address and tax number are private: they are never shown on your profile or to other users. You must keep them accurate.
Where paid courses will be available. Paid courses launch soon. When they open, we expect to start with learners in the European Economic Area and the United States. Learners in other countries can use free courses, apply for jobs, and earn certificates now, and we will open paid courses in more countries over time.
One price for everyone. Every learner pays the price the Provider set for a course, plus any tax shown at checkout. We do not offer discounts based on where you live. All paid courses have a minimum price of €15.
Sponsor a learner (coming soon). We plan to let sponsors (individuals, companies, universities, and charities) pay for course places for learners in lower-income countries; see our Sponsor a learner page. This is different from a sponsored listing. It is not open yet, nothing is being charged for it, and the details (which countries and courses are included, how places are awarded, and how much sponsors can give) may change before launch. If you email us to say you are interested, we use your email only to reply to you.
To receive a certificate, a learner must complete the course, pass any required exam, and verify their identity through our third-party identity verification provider (Stripe Identity). A certificate confirms completion of that specific course on the Platform; it does not by itself constitute an accredited qualification unless the issuing Provider states otherwise, and the Platform does not independently verify a Provider's credentials or teaching qualifications. Each certificate has a public verification page that anyone can check using its verification code.
Exams and quizzes must be completed by you, in your own words or work, without impersonating someone else or using unauthorised assistance where a Provider states the exam is closed-book or individually assessed. Publicly sharing exam questions or answers undermines the certificates the Platform issues and is prohibited. We may revoke a certificate and issue a strike against an account found to have obtained it through dishonest means.
Live courses are taught over video call using our third-party video provider (Daily.co). Sessions are not recorded or stored by the Platform unless a Provider states otherwise for a specific course. Participants are expected to behave respectfully; a host may remove a participant who disrupts a session or violates these Terms.
Employers, Government Organisations, and other Organisations may post job listings and receive applications from Learners. The Platform facilitates this connection but is not a party to any resulting employment relationship, offer, or contract, does not vet job listings for legitimacy, and does not guarantee any hiring outcome.
Employer response record. To help job seekers avoid fake or abandoned listings, we show signed-in users a record of each Provider's activity on the Platform, on that Provider's job listings: the share of applications they have replied to and how quickly they usually reply; the share of their past listings that ended with an applicant marked as hired; how many days their listings usually stay open before they are closed or run out; and when they were last active. “Usually” and “typical” mean the middle value: half were quicker and half took longer. These figures are worked out automatically from what the Provider does on the Platform, such as moving an application to another stage or closing a vacancy. They reflect the Provider's own updates and are not an independent review, so a Provider who replies or hires outside the Platform without updating the application may show lower figures. A figure is shown only once enough cases stand behind it, and an application is not counted in the reply rate until it is a week old unless it has already been answered. By posting a job, a Provider agrees that this record is shown to signed-in users. It never shows applicants' names or details. We may remove a listing we believe to be fake, misleading, or posted to advertise rather than to hire (see Acceptable use).
Skills checks. A Provider posting a job may add up to two optional skills checks to it, and may use both, one, or neither: a timed multiple-choice quiz, marked automatically against a pass mark the Provider sets, and/or a task-based work sample, where the applicant submits a link to their work, confirms it is their own original work, and the Provider reviews it and records a pass or fail. Every applicant for that listing gets the same check or checks, and each can be taken once per application. The Platform only administers these checks. The Provider alone decides how to use the results, and the Platform does not conduct interviews or guarantee that a Provider's decisions are fair or lawful.
Once payments open, posting a job will cost €120, charged before the listing goes live, unless covered by a credit or promo below. Until then, only the free promotional posts below can be used:
A posting only becomes visible to learners once payment is confirmed (or a credit or promo post is applied). A posting stays live for 30 days from that moment. After that it is no longer shown and no longer takes applications, although the applications already received stay available to the Provider. A Provider can close a vacancy earlier, for example once it is filled, and can renew it. Renewing adds another 30 days (on top of any time still left) and costs a posting again: a free promo post or credit if the Provider has one, otherwise the same €120. The fee is not refunded when a vacancy is closed early. We may change the fee, the credit threshold, or end the promotion at any time; changes apply to postings made after the change, not retroactively.
Learners and job seekers are never charged to browse jobs, apply, or be considered — the posting fee above is paid only by the Provider listing the role. Job listings must comply with applicable equal-opportunity and anti-discrimination employment law in the jurisdictions where the Provider is hiring; a listing that discriminates on an unlawful basis (such as race, sex, religion, disability, or age) may be removed and may result in a strike against the Provider's account.
Trial-to-hire is not open yet. It is coming soon in Ireland. This section describes how it will work once it opens, and nothing in it applies until then.
Employers, Government Organisations, and other Organisations based in Ireland can offer a specific job applicant a 2-week, in-person, paid trial placement instead of (or before) a permanent hiring decision. This exists so that talented candidates who don't come across well on paper or in a single interview get a real chance to show what they can do. This feature, and the trial placements it creates, are available only where the work takes place in Ireland — it is not offered globally, and not currently offered elsewhere in the EU/EEA. We may extend it to further countries as our licensing to operate this feature extends to them.
Before a trial starts, both the employer and the worker must accept a Platform-generated Trial Employment Agreement summarising the role, work location, daily wage, and dates. This is a genuine, fixed-term employment arrangement — not an unpaid or contract-free period. The employer is responsible for complying with the employment, tax, and social-insurance law of the country where the trial takes place (for example, providing any written statement of employment terms required in that country within the legally required timeframe), and for any licensing that applies to them as an intermediary offering paid work placements. The Platform is not the employer, is not a party to the resulting employment relationship, and does not provide legal or payroll advice.
The employer sets the daily wage and must affirmatively confirm it meets Ireland's legal minimum wage before the offer can be sent. The Platform doesn't maintain or enforce a live minimum-wage rate table — the statutory rate changes periodically — so this confirmation is the employer's responsibility, not a guarantee from the Platform.
Once the worker accepts, the employer pays the full trial wage (daily wage × working days) plus a flat €59, non-refundable platform fee, via Stripe. The wage is held by the Platform — not paid to the worker immediately — until the trial ends. The wage is always paid to the worker for confirmed days worked, regardless of whether the employer goes on to offer a permanent role; withholding pay for time already worked is never a valid outcome of the hire/no-hire decision, in Ireland or anywhere else. If the employer doesn't confirm the worker's attendance within 5 days of the trial ending, the full wage releases to the worker automatically. The €59 fee is non-refundable regardless of the trial's outcome or whether it completes.
After the trial, the employer separately records a hire / no-hire decision; that decision has no effect on whether the trial wage was paid, only on whether a permanent role is offered next.
You agree not to:
The Platform relies on third-party services to operate, including Stripe (payments and identity verification), Daily.co (live video), Resend (sending confirmation and account emails), Google (optional sign-in), Vercel (hosting and file storage for lecture videos, CVs, and profile photos), and our database provider. Your use of features backed by these services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid to us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by contract. Courses, jobs, trials, and other content are provided by Providers, not by us, and we are not responsible for their content or conduct beyond what the law requires of us.
You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, engages in fraud, or poses a risk to other users or the Platform.
Even after content is removed or an account is suspended, we retain a record of who uploaded or posted what, and when, along with any strikes issued and the reason for each. We keep these records because we need them if a dispute over content escalates (for example, a rights-holder complaint or a regulator inquiry) — see our Privacy Policy for how long.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect. Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign your account to anyone else. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.
If a dispute arises, please contact info@coursehire.com first so we can try to resolve it informally before either party pursues a formal claim.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new “last updated” date and, for a material change, tell signed-in users by email or a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, you can close your account. Changes to fees apply only to purchases made after the change.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of Ireland have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in the courts there.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to info@coursehire.com.
